Mature Style Evolution

Well hello again… we keep meeting here a lot. (Wink, wink) welcome back guys to another post. We are again going down the fashion lane, because apparently my blog has zip structure and I write about whatever pops into my head. And yet we have such fun doing it!

If you haven’t seen my other two fashion posts this spring(here and here) than I suggest you go check them out. They’ll help you get a better picture of what I mean by “maturing style”.

Basically I have gone the minimum, Parisian inspired vibe. This look is very typical of what I am wearing for everyday life. The Liz Baker Essential dress slacks offer some chic lines to the Keds loafers and Banana Republic striped tee. Finished off with the unruly mess that is my hair and this super old, oversized Old Navy black jean jacket and you have a very cute, comfy, practical look.

I have recently started revamping my wardrobe one piece at a time. Finding pieces/styles and cuts that I like regardless if they follow popular brands or trends. Essentially I am trying to break the impulse buys and stick with an end goal of what I want my closet to look like. This has meant selling or donating old pieces that no longer fit my style evolution. Or replacing items with an updated version thereof. Which is all super exciting, since it gives me a chance to plan and scheme, and set those ever lovely goals that I shoot for.

And that is all for right now! I have one more post coming out tomorrow and then an exciting one next Thursday hopefully.

Lots of love,

Tally

Spring Cardigan

Here is another spring look for y’all! I don’t know why(probably the changing of the seasons) but I have felt super inspired with fashion again. Yay! I’m not totally sold on the look below. Not sure all the pieces go together that way I envisioned, but maybe you guys have some suggestions. I don’t know. Maybe just let me know if this look is a hit or not.

So the cardigan I have had since I was sixteen or something, and it’s from Old Navy. I bought the navy t-shirt from Christopher Banks during a store closing sale. The same with these Express jeans and then the booties I have had for several years and I bought them through Royal and Reese, which is an online boutique. I paired the whole look with my silk scarf that I got as a gift from Turkey(yep the country) And my Michael Kors “green” billfold. Also my necklace is my Mom’s high school crest.

So what do you guys think? Hit or miss?

Lots of love,

The Stripes of Spring

Man the weather here in ole Wisconsin has been marvelous! Super sunny and a balmy 32-45 degrees. Trust me after going through weeks of -35 this is like heaven. Anyway I thought I would do a fashion post, which I haven’t done in… I don’t know months. But the look below is probably as near my style and perfection that I can get. So I hope you enjoy.

Ah MKE how lovely you look in the early morning hours.

So Outfit top to bottom:

  • Sunglasses- Kate Spade(I bought these like five years ago and I can’t remember the style 😬)

  • Top- BB Dakota Steve Madden(can’t find it anywhere… wow)
  • Bottoms- Liz Baker Essentials(purchased at a thrift store- score!)

Yellowstone Packing List

Did you just read that right? Did I really write packing list? It feels like forever(and frankly it has been forever) since I have been on vacation. And man do I need it.

This was supposed to be a family vacation, but of course life gets in the way so it ended up just being my parents, my younger sister and myself, who braved Yellowstone in October. Look out next week(or the week after) for a trip round-up post or two. But for now here is what I packed for Yellowstone

Four ultra warm knits. I think it goes without saying that unexpected snows can happen unexpectedly up against the Rockies, so packing warm apparel is just common sense. Plus I love a good knit as you well know.
This was an 11 day trip, so I packed four pairs of pants to be worn on rotation. Again I went for durable and warm.
Next are just a couple of nice tops. That can easily be worn causally or be dressed up if we went out for the night.
The all importance of outerwear cannot be over stated. I packed both of my warmer fall coats(plus my light jean jacket not shown here) to protect against the chills.
And finally foot wear. Right up there with coats in importance. From a nice pair of loafers for loading through the shops of Jacksonhole, WY. to my Hunter boots in case it snows and/or floods. I think I am well covered.

Well that’s it! I can’t wait to show you guys the pictures from this much needed get away. Until next time,

Lots of love,

Stitch Fix September 2020

It’s that time again. Time to see my horribly dirty mirror and try to see the cute clothes beyond. Let’s get started!!

Boom Boom Jeans Utility Joggers – $38

First thing in the box were these super cute and beyond comfortable “dark grey” joggers.
Great lazy day pants, I have them styled here with my Banana Republic striped tee.
These were a keep for me. They’re cute enough to style and wear in public. But also I could see myself binging Netflix and chilling in bed on those colder nights.

Market&Spruce Button Down Top- $54

Next thing in the box was this top. Now I loved the color and the quarter sleeves. Plus the material was very soft and durable. Not hot like normal flannel…
However you know how I feel about flannel guys. I just don’t like how it looks on me. I adore it on other people but can’t quite pull off myself.
So this was sent back. Unlike the next item…

Pinque Crew Neck Pullover- $44

Isn’t it just adorable?! This is probably my second favorite thing in the box(stay tuned for my fav) So warm and the cut is just right. This was a no brainer keep. Am I right?

Market&Spruce Cargo Jacket- $88

I have received a jacket like this before in the box and thought it was cute then too. But I seriously have so many outer pieces(which you will see in an up coming post) that I knew this just wasn’t needed.
So back she went. And the final piece in the box-

Herschel Retreat Backpack- $90

I cannot tell you how I excited I was to see this waiting for me at the bottom of the box. My heart nearly exploded. I have been on the look out for a good backpack for when I go hiking with my sister and for an upcoming trip.(again more on this later) But I have had no luck in finding just the perfect bag. But this… this is gorgeous!! The plum color and simple design. This is by far the coolest thing I have ever gotten in a box.

The total price of the box came out to $235.49. This is definitely one of the better boxes I have received and has me excited to see what the next Stitch Fix brings.

So what did you guys think? Do agree with my returns and keeps? I’d love to hear. For more of my unboxing posts click here.

Stitch Fix August 2020

Hello all! It’s been forever since I have done one of these reviews(here’s the last one) But with moving between two houses back and forth and just the craziness that is life right now I have been a bit distracted. But I am going to do another catch up post either this week or Wednesday of next week(so look for it) I feel like my blog has almost become me apologizing every two weeks for not writing for two weeks. I’m so bad. Ugh. Anyway with out further ado this is what I got in the box…

Market&Spruce T-shirt Dress

(Okay first off excuse the horrible lighting it was in the evening. Also my bathroom is a disaster but again I’m moving from one house to another. Finally excuse my no makeup-ness. I had just gotten down working out and showering, when I remembered I needed to take pics- lol Okay moving on)

So the first thing in the box was this super cute and comfy t-shirt dress. The price was $64. The navy and off white stripes were totally my jam. However I didn’t end up keeping this dress because I have one almost exactly like it.

See… okay not totally the same, but similar enough for me.

Mason&Belle Top/Just USA Shorts

Okay so tough decisions were made here people. I loved- absolutely loved this top! Unfortunately it did not pass the nanny test. As in it’s white and not conducive to me crawling around on the floor like a three year old. And at $42 I felt like it was a bit much to pay for a top I would only wear once or twice a summer.

The shorts however($44) were so stinking cute and comfortable that I couldn’t pass them up. I had been needing a good pair of jean shorts so yay!

ChampionxRifle Paper Co. Keds

I know awful pic but I forgot to take one(eye roll)

I think you guys know I have a slight obsession with Keds snickers… I only own like four or five pairs! (Yikes) and I would have kept these but paying the full price($60) when I know I can get them cheaper… ??? Yeah no brainer. But don’t be shocked if these end up in my closet.

E&M Button Down Cami

The final thing in the box was this cute cami. But it didn’t necessarily speak to me on a deep enough level to pay $24 for it.

So all in all this was a very good box and I am so happy with my denim shorts. The total of this box was $238. I’m getting another box in September which I am super excited for because I have asked my stylist to help with some pieces for a family trip that’s coming up. But more on that later(wink)

Summer Style Review

The family I work for is staying at a lake house this summer. Which basically translates to me being outside and in the water 24/7. Since I will probably be wearing my swimsuit like a second skin for two months I decided I wanted to purchase several sun dresses that I could just drape over my suit and go. Below are my finds!

Embracing My Inner Gypsy…

This gingham pattern day dress is a little more “dressed up” than the other looks below. I purchased it from ModCloth an online boutique, who’s styles are more vintage and feminine. Which is right up my alley. I look forward to purchasing more products from them. This dress is probably my new fav.

This skirt/shirt combo is from Albion Fit and is super casual and comfortable. Perfect for running after kids. And since the skirt is made of that super light, athletic material it cleans very easily.

Probably my favorite purchase is this hula skirt. It is awesome! If I could I would wear it all the time. Since the pattern is so colorful and chaotic it pretty much goes with everything. (I said pretty much)

This blue, silky skirt is super soft. The only downside is it is a little see through. But since I’m wearing it over my suit I don’t really mind.
This dress is to die for! It has two tie strings on both sides so it can either be as loose or form fitting as you desire.

That’s it for now my peeps! If ya need me I’ll be at the lake.

Lots of love,

Tally

What I Would Have Worn to New Orleans

With everything that is going on in the world it’s no great shock that my sister’s birthday, girls only trip to New Orleans has been canceled. Which is of course major bum city, but also wise. Since we don’t want to get sick and certainly don’t want anyone else to get sick because of us. Anyway I thought you guys still might like to see what I would have worn if we had gone. I must say it was fun for me today to mess around taking pictures and gave me the excuse to put on makeup and actually get dressed as opposed to sweats&pj’s. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that)

There you have it! I think you can tell I had fun “modeling” for this post. (Lol) So which look was your favorite? I’d love to know! Leave it down in the comments below.

Major Closet Clean Out

Ah spring! I feel you coming and recognize your windy presence with a full heart. What is it about this time of year that makes you want to run and smile and throw all your possessions away? Maybe it’s the idea of new beginnings and throwing off the chains of the old. Maybe it’s because you have spent months trapped in your house looking at your things and now can’t stand the sight of them. Who knows! But normally around this time and sometime in the fall I do a major clean out of my closet. I have done this since junior high. How do I collect so much stuff?

This doesn’t mean that I get rid of a bunch crap both times, but at least it gets reorganized and I feel less suffocated by it. This time however I did end up doing a major clean out. I had collected pieces of clothing and random stuff that I neither liked, or didn’t fit at all(and hadn’t for many years and were never going to fit) I was tired of having it cluttering my space. I was tired of holding on to things I was supposed to like, but really didn’t. I was tired of holding on to things that were cute, but not my personal style. Nor likely to be worn by me, but might be enjoyed by someone else.

In the end I got rid of whole big, black trash bag of stuff! Donating it at Good Will and saying good by to the extra baggage. How about you? Do you do a Spring Cleaning? When is the last time you felt suffocated by the stuff we are told we need?

Stitch Fix: March 2020 Unboxing

It’s already time for another Stitch Fix Unboxing? Dang time is flying! It is remarkable how as a child, time just used to creep by and all you wanted it to do was rush past all the boring school days and be summer already! I know a lot of you hate winter, but I don’t. I actually love the cool days and snowy nights and I think God’s color palette this time of year is spectacular.

But I think what I really want, is for time in general just to slow down a little bit. Or maybe just for me to slow down. What am I rushing for anyway? Why can’t we just enjoy what’s going today? Right now. Why does life have to be perfectly figured out this exact second? I mean I am as guilty of this as anyone. “Only if only I was older and wiser…” “Only if this would happen.” “Or this.” Nah thank you. I like being young and somewhat aimless right now. (Somewhat I mean I am working my dream job #nannyproud)

Sorry for the rant but hay it’s honestly what I was thinking about. Anyway getting to the post…

What was in the box?

Yes I want to be young and accept that my mirror is still filthy… And will always be filthy! #filthymirrorproud

The first thing in the box were these Studio Blue Sophia Utility Pocket Pants in olive($58) My stylist wanted to attempt to break my addiction with denim. These were super cute and fit perfectly but were not me so I returned them.

Next up was the above and below Brina&Em River Ruffle Sleeve Tie Front Blouse in burnt orange($38) I loved this top but I had just literally- like three days before- purchased something similar… So yeah this was a return as well.

Next…

…was this Sophie Rue Demeter Cardigan in light grey($48) Was not a fan of this at all. I have a grey cardigan but it is over sized and it is literally one of favorite pieces of clothing. This was an easy no for me. Moving on.

This is a Madwell(I love shopping from Madwell) Tara Single Pocket Pullover in red($68) I really liked this sweater… But I didn’t love it, ya know? Yeah so that was another no for me. If you remember last month’s box I kept every item except one. And now this box is so far a resounding no. But wait! There’s one thing left in the box…

Yeah I didn’t keep this either. Don’t hate me! If you all remember in my first every stitch fix I received something similar and kept it. Oh this is a Pink Clover Ameya Blush Knit Top($38) by the by.

So I didn’t keep a single thing from this box, but I’m not too bummed about it. I had a feeling even before this box arrived it was going to be a dud. Maybe because last month’s was so amazing. Maybe because it’s March and it is kind of hard to style this month. Who knows! I can’t wait for next month though. The grand total of this box was $250 for those you who are bad at math(like me) Until next time!

Lots of love,

Tally
