Here we go again! If this post(and last week’s doesn’t make you want to visit the West nothing will)
The Gibbon River and waterfall.Mammoth Springs… it’s other worldly isn’t it?The mini the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
And then my Mom and sister drove up and down the Teton Pass just because it was there.
The view from the top of the pass, which did I mention include 10% grades. I’m a flatland girl born and raised, so that’s a big deal to me and was also slightly nerve racking.Just a few last minute shots.
And that’s a wrap! It was a much needed vacation and was probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
You guys ready to be absolutely blown away??? Good!
(But first I would like to apologize to whoever left a comment on my last Yellowstone post– I was going to respond and then the comment was gone. Like no where to be found. So please know I didn’t ignore you! I believe you asked what was the most important thing I packed for the trip? And the answer is definitely layers! I’d start in the morning with a shirt, sweater and heavy jacket but by the afternoon would have striped to just my t-shirt. So if you go on a trip to Wyoming in October or late fall pack layers. Again I apologize for not responding sooner)
The drive out…
We took three days to drive out west in my parents’ RV. Which meant camping stops and bonfires.
Jackson, WY.
The Tetons… couldn’t you just die?We thought the log looked like a horse. The antler arches of Jackson’s downtown. For my food lovers out there you must try an elk burger and sweet potato fries at Jackson Hole Drug Store. It’s kinda a thing. A delicious thing. And my big purchase of the trip was this Stetson. #bringbackhats
Yellowstone+Grand Teton National Park
I think another must is visiting the Tetons early in the morning… I could have stood there all day.
Okay, okay let’s move to the next location…
Tetons were by far my favorite thing about our trip. Ya know if you couldn’t tell.
Let’s get into Yellowstone itself, shall we?A bison and Old Faithful… exactly what you picture in your mind isn’t it?Old Faithful faithfully blew her top… Wow.
I could go on and on in this post, but I am going to stop here for now. All I can say God’s creation is absolutely breath taking. Another Yellowstone Trip photo dump will be coming!
Did you just read that right? Did I really write packing list? It feels like forever(and frankly it has been forever) since I have been on vacation. And man do I need it.
This was supposed to be a family vacation, but of course life gets in the way so it ended up just being my parents, my younger sister and myself, who braved Yellowstone in October. Look out next week(or the week after) for a trip round-up post or two. But for now here is what I packed for Yellowstone…
Four ultra warm knits. I think it goes without saying that unexpected snows can happen unexpectedly up against the Rockies, so packing warm apparel is just common sense. Plus I love a good knit as you well know. This was an 11 day trip, so I packed four pairs of pants to be worn on rotation. Again I went for durable and warm.Next are just a couple of nice tops. That can easily be worn causally or be dressed up if we went out for the night. The all importance of outerwear cannot be over stated. I packed both of my warmer fall coats(plus my light jean jacket not shown here) to protect against the chills. And finally foot wear. Right up there with coats in importance. From a nice pair of loafers for loading through the shops of Jacksonhole, WY. to my Hunter boots in case it snows and/or floods. I think I am well covered.
Well that’s it! I can’t wait to show you guys the pictures from this much needed get away. Until next time,
Hello everybody! I wasn’t sure I was even going to write this post. I was that disappointed with this month’s box.
Out of the four or five boxes I have received from Stitch Fix this is the first dud. So I guess that’s not an awful track record. I’m going to give them another try next month, which will be late in June(I switched my frequency of fixes to every other month) And hopefully get back to styles that actually suit me.
First up in the box…
Was this Nine Britton Smocked Bottum Blouse in Beige and Judy Blue Button Front Fray Hem Skinny Jeans in Black. The jeans(while they fit perfectly) were not me at all. Too rock-n-roll. As for the top it was sheer and would require me to wear something underneath it, which I felt defeated it’s purpose. Both items were a return for me.
Next was…
Was this top; Nine Britton Waffle Henley Knit in Burgundy. I felt it was out of season. A maybe for me in the fall, but definitely not in spring. I returned this as well.
Then there was this Temma Denim Jacket in Mustard. Cute, but again just not me…
Finally…
Was this top by Pink Clover in Navy. This top while more along my style was just not cute enough to tempt me. So I returned this one as well.
All in all I returned every item in the box and I don’t regret my decision to do so. What did you guys think? Was I right in being disappointed?
The total value of the box was $255 with items being priced: $40-, $55-, $38-, $88-, $34- respectively.
My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring And carried aloft on the winds of the breeze; For above and around me the wild wind is roaring, Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas.
The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing, The bare trees are tossing their branches on high; The dead leaves beneath them are merrily dancing, The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky
I wish I could see how the ocean is lashing The foam of its billows to whirlwinds of spray; I wish I could see how its proud waves are dashing, And hear the wild roar of their thunder to-day!

From crafts to nature to food, fall is literally ripe with possibilities. And I’m not just saying that because it is my favorite season… But it is, which makes it even better.
Paper Cup Pumpkins
I actually let my Chargers pick this activity out and it worked out really well. They loved it! A super simple craft, great for almost all ages. (The two year old got more paint on himself than the cup)
2. Pinecone Turkeys
Another big success with the kiddos this craft involves a nature walk to find the said pinecones. Even if that walk is just to the front yard like ours was(lol). Next grab some paint and table cloth and get ready to get messy. To finish up hot glue on the Pom-Pom head and goggly eyes. I think they turned out super cute!
If you and your little loves tackle either of this crafts please share below or on any of my social accounts I’d love to see!
I feel like we haven’t done a fashion post in forever! I planned on doing so many this summer but yeah that did not happen. Best laid plans I guess. Since September is literally here and school has started everywhere; I thought I would do a brief recap of some of my fav outfits this past summer. I found myself wearing these a lot!
Yellow Checkers
My top look in London and my top look this whole summer. I got compliments every time I wore this number. You could either dress with your fav high waist jeans or jean shorts. From top to bottom just an eye catching look.
I haven’t found my little black dress yet but I did find the perfect red dress over the summer. It’s super cute and easily dressed up or down. But however you wear it, you’re guaranteed to grab some attention.
3. My Maxi
I’m not a fan of maxi dresses. They never look good on me, however this one is the bomb! Paired with this super cute peachy bralette you have a fun, cool summer outfit.
Ah, spring. You gorgeous, colorful and yet still at times freezing season. I don’t know about you guys but spring can sometimes be a difficult time to style. As one day it can be like winter and the next you’re tempted to throw all caution to the wind and run around in short sleeves. (not yet guys, not yet) The key is layers darling, even if half of your layers stay in the backseat of your car. (Guilty) Below is outfit #1 in a mini series 7 Layered Outfits of Spring that we’ll run through in April to give you guys some outfit inspo.
By the way guys (as you can probably tell from the frozen lake behind me) I needed all my layers that day. It was chilly!
Okay Sling-backs are my new favorite shoes! I’m seriously tempted to buy them in every freakin’ color! They’re like flats in that they’re cute and classy, but because the back is open- Guys no rubbing! I wore them all day while I ran errands and they were so comfortable.
I love, love, LOVE this Sweater. It is so soft (both color and fabric wise- by the way yellow is super in this spring) You could wear it over a dress or a tee, or on it’s own like I am here with just a lacy bralette. (It also comes in several colors if yellow just ain’t your thing)
One thing to always remember during these layering months is scarves are still an option. Yes put away your chunky, knitted corded infinity scarves, but a colorful scarf can be the perfect extra layer over a sweater if a jacket is just too much or not enough. (This particular scarf was a gift! And I love it!!)
